Business Readiness Assessment (Free Tool)
Run a free business readiness assessment for any major change. Rate leadership, processes, people, roles, data, communication and support for each business area and see where to act first.
Run a free business readiness assessment in three minutes: choose the change and the business area, rate seven readiness dimensions and see whether that part of the business is ready, partly ready or not ready.
Programmes track whether the system, the data and the plan are ready. Fewer track whether the business is. Yet a new system, operating model or shared services move only works if leaders back it, processes are designed and documented, people are trained, roles are clear, data is clean, everyone knows what's coming and there's a plan to keep the business running through the change. A business readiness assessment checks all of that, area by area, so problems surface while there's still time to fix them. To check whether your process documentation is ready too, run our documentation readiness assessment.
What is a business readiness assessment?
A business readiness assessment measures how prepared each part of an organisation is to adopt a change and keep operating through it. It looks at the business side of readiness rather than the technology: leadership and sponsorship, processes, people and skills, roles and organisation, data, communication and engagement, and support and business continuity. Results show which areas and dimensions are ready and where to act first.

The seven dimensions of business readiness
Dimension | What ready looks like |
|---|---|
Leadership and sponsorship | A visible sponsor and leaders who explain and champion the change |
Processes | Future processes are designed, approved and documented with step-by-step guides |
People and skills | People are trained for their new tasks and can do them |
Roles and organisation | New roles, responsibilities and approvals are defined and communicated |
Data | The data each area depends on is cleaned, migrated and validated |
Communication and engagement | People know what's changing, why, when and what it means for them |
Support and business continuity | Support, workarounds and continuity plans are ready for the first weeks |
Business readiness vs other readiness checks
Check | What it answers |
|---|---|
Business readiness assessment | Is each part of the business ready to adopt the change and keep running? |
Who is affected by the change, how much and in what way? | |
End user readiness assessment | Can the users in each role do their real tasks in the new system? |
Go-live readiness checklist | Are all technical, data, testing, people and cutover items complete? |
Start with change impact to see who's affected, use business readiness to check each area is prepared, then go deeper on people with the end user readiness assessment as go-live approaches.
When to run a business readiness assessment
At the start of the programme, to set a baseline and plan the work.
Before each major milestone, such as design sign-off, testing and training.
Six to eight weeks before go-live, when there's still time to act.
At the go/no-go decision, alongside the ERP go-live readiness checklist builder.
For each wave in a phased rollout.
How to close business readiness gaps
Processes: record the people who will run the new processes, turn the recordings into step-by-step guides, and get them approved by process owners; start from the as-is process documentation template to show what changes.
People: identify what each role needs to learn and plan the training; use the training needs assessment template.
Communication: tell people what's changing, why and when, through managers and regular updates; plan it with the communication plan template.
Support: plan hypercare, workarounds and continuity for the first weeks.
For the training content each area needs before go-live, see the ERP go-live readiness checklist: what training content to have ready.
How Trupeer helps close process and people gaps
Readiness gap | How Trupeer helps |
|---|---|
Future processes aren't documented | Record each process once and Trupeer turns it into a step-by-step guide and video for approval |
People aren't trained on the new way of working | Role-based guides and short videos built from the approved processes |
Several sites and languages | Translate guides and videos from one source |
Processes change late | Update by editing the script or replacing a single step |
People can't find help | Publish everything in one searchable knowledge base |
Genpact used Trupeer for a company-wide Workday rollout, turning recorded process sessions into more than 500 training collaterals across 20 workstreams in five languages, for 140,000 employees in 40 countries, in 3 months instead of 12. Read the Genpact customer story.

What is a business readiness assessment?
It measures how prepared each part of an organisation is to adopt a change and keep operating through it, across leadership, processes, people, roles, data, communication and support.
When should you run a business readiness assessment?
At the start of a programme to set a baseline, before major milestones, six to eight weeks before go-live, at the go/no-go decision and for each wave of a phased rollout.
What's the difference between business readiness and change impact?
A change impact assessment shows who is affected and how much. A business readiness assessment shows whether each area is prepared to adopt the change and keep running.
Who should complete the assessment?
The change or readiness lead, with business area leads and process owners, so ratings reflect what's really in place.
