Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Visit app.trupeer.ai, click 'Create New', then select 'Start Recording'. Add the Trupeer screen recorder Chrome extension and begin recording your screen. You can share a specific tab, window, or the entire screen. Check the detailed guide for a step-by-step walkthrough.
Generating a video purely from a script isn't currently possible. However, many enterprise users record themselves talking over a presentation, then insert relevant images and make edits, which Trupeer polishes with an AI voiceover. You can also upload a pre-recorded video from your computer.
You can upload recordings directly from your computer. Go to the homepage at app.trupeer.ai and choose the upload option. Refer to the step-by-step guide for details.
Trupeer is supported on all major browsers including Chrome, Edge, and Safari. For the best experience, we recommend using Trupeer on Chrome.
Video Editing
Open your video from your library, click 'Trim Video', play to the start of the section you want to remove and click 'Split'. Move to where you want the video to resume and click 'Split' again. Adjust the selection so the unwanted chunk is excluded, then click 'Trim and Regenerate'.
Best practice: trim unnecessary frames before clicking 'Create AI Content'. See the trim guide.
Best practice: trim unnecessary frames before clicking 'Create AI Content'. See the trim guide.
Open the video in your library, click 'Crop Video', adjust the crop area to exclude what you don't want shown, then click 'Save Changes'. See the cropping guide.
Navigate to the Script Editor in your video project. Click on 'Add Clip' at the point where you want to insert it. Choose the clip from your library, add text if needed, adjust font size, color, and duration, then click 'Save Changes'.
Open any existing video in the editor, click 'Add Scene', select the video you want to merge under Custom Media, set the scene duration and audio settings, then hit 'Save'. This is great for updating a single step without re-recording an entire walkthrough. Watch a quick walkthrough.
Open your video's edit page, then click 'Add Chapters'. Choose 'Generate with AI' to auto-create chapters, or 'Add Manually'. Click a chapter title to rename it, or use 'Edit' to add or adjust chapters, then click 'Save'. See the chapter features guide.
To update the spoken script, open the video's edit page, select the incorrect text, replace it, click 'Keep Changes', then 'Refresh Voiceover'. To edit on-screen text like headings or annotations, click 'Edit', type the new text, then 'Save'. You can also change color, font, bold/italics, drag to reposition, or delete. Use 'Use Original Transcript' to revert. See the transcript guide.
You can add chapters manually and then type new text within that chapter. Refer to the chapter features guide for detailed steps.
Unfortunately, edits or trims made before clicking 'Generate AI Content' or 'Refresh Voiceover' are deleted permanently. As a best practice, always save your work before making major edits.
AI Voice & Avatar
You can use the custom voice feature to retain your human voice or choose a different AI voice. Navigate to Brand Kit and select the custom voice option. Through our integration with ElevenLabs, you can create a voice replica that sounds similar to yours. See the custom voiceover guide.
When you click 'Generate AI Content', our AI provides a polished AI voiceover, so the original voiceover isn't retained in the new video. However, you can create a custom voice in the Brand Kit section that closely replicates your natural voice using our ElevenLabs integration. Learn more in the custom voiceover guide.
Open the video in the editor, click 'AI Avatar' in the top menu, toggle 'Enable AI Avatar', then pick an avatar from the catalogue. You can choose the avatar style (conversational, professional, or entertaining), set a background color, and adjust the layout position. You can also connect your HeyGen API key for custom avatars.
Go to Brand Kit, click 'Add New Pronunciation', then enter the word and record it in your voice or upload an audio file. After adding it, play the section in your script where that word appears to confirm the pronunciation is applied. See the pronunciation guide.
Use the custom pronunciations feature in Brand Kit. You can record the correct pronunciation or upload an audio sample. The AI will use this for all future videos containing that word.
Edit the script and use pauses. Select the text you want to adjust, use 'Add pause' to insert a pause of 0.2 to 3 seconds, click 'Keep Changes' and 'Refresh Voiceover'. You can also trim text in the script to shorten or lengthen sections. You can also use 'Rewrite Script with AI' to adjust the pace. See the script editing guide.
When exporting your video, you can choose to exclude the avatar. Simply export without selecting the avatar option in the export settings.
With Trupeer, you don't need to record your camera at all. If you want your face to appear, you can use the Custom Avatar flow to create a personalized avatar that represents you in the video.
Brand Kit & Customization
Open the left-side menu on the homepage and click 'Brand Kit'. From there you can create and manage video templates, set up voices, avatars, backgrounds, music, and a glossary. Refer to the Brand Kit user guide for full details.
If the AI voiceover pronounces a word incorrectly and you've changed the spelling to correct pronunciation, the closed captions will reflect the modified spelling. To fix this, use the pronunciation and glossary features in Brand Kit.
Yes. For voiceovers, connect an external voice provider using an API key (ElevenLabs is supported) from your Brand Kit. For avatars, connect via API key if generated on another platform. For docs, upload external images using the 'Upload image' option. See the ElevenLabs integration guide.
Translation & Sharing
Open the video after recording and editing, then click 'Translate Content' in the top right. Pick the target language from the list, then click 'Create Translation' to generate the translated video and transcript. Trupeer supports 20+ languages.
Note: translating a video consumes AI minutes. See the translation guide.

You can share in two ways. Share a link: go to 'Shared Page' in the left menu, open the page, and share the link (viewers don't need workspace access). Share a file: export your video from Video Library (open the video, choose 'Export Video'), download it, and send the file directly.
You can embed a document so Trupeer picks up formatting and brand guidelines, but you can't insert a document as input and extract a new one as output. The only method of extracting a document from Trupeer is by recording or uploading a video walkthrough.
Knowledge Base
Click on 'Knowledge Base' in the left menu bar of the Trupeer app, then click 'Add New'. The knowledge base acts as an overall content repository that's search-indexable across your videos and documents. See the knowledge base guide.
Shared pages are for sharing individual content pieces with internal or external users. A knowledge base acts as your overall content repository, search-indexable across videos and documents. Use shared pages for specific content; use knowledge base for creating a searchable FAQ or help center where users can find exact timestamps within videos.
Media & Formats
GIF files aren't directly supported. You'll need to convert the GIF into MP4 format before using it in Trupeer.
You can speak over a presentation or insert clips and images into a video. Trupeer is designed for product explainers and walkthroughs, so record yourself walking through screenshots and then polish the result with AI editing tools.
Trupeer doesn't currently let you edit alt text for a screenshot. What you can do is open the screenshot in the image editor (click the screenshot, then 'Edit image') and update the image itself with annotations, highlights, shapes, text, blur, etc. See the image annotation guide.
Yes, you can add scenes with audio. Open a video in the editor, click 'Add Scene', select your media under Custom Media, set the scene duration and audio settings, then hit 'Save'.
